Synopsis
The story of ‘Tricks’ is told from a child’s-eye view. The director focuses on Stefek, a six-year-old boy, and his sister Elka, 17. It is the school holidays, and the little boy is at a loose end; he tags along behind his sister, who works in a bar in the evenings and spends her days preparing for a job interview with a large international company. One day, on a station platform, they catch sight of their father, who abandoned the family when Stefek was born. The boy takes destiny into his own hands: he sets in motion a chain of events which he thinks will bring him closer to his father. Things go wrong, but Stefek does not lose hope; he tries all kinds of tricks, culminating in the most risky one of all...
