Press conference and interviews
The ceremony will be broadcasted live on Europe by Satellite, Wednesday 22/10/08 from 11.15 to 11.30. It can also be followed from Europarl, the European Parliament website. The purpose of the LUX Prize is to break down the languages barriers that often prevent European films from being distributed widely and to facilitate the circulation of European films and give a boost to cinematic work within the European Union. The winning film will be sub-titled in the 23 official languages of the European Union. The value of the LUX Prize is estimated at €87,000.
A press conference chaired by EP Vice-President Gérard Onesta and EP Culture Committee Chair Katarina Batzeli, and with participation of directors and actors from the three finalist films will be held the same day at 14.30 in the European Parliament press room.
