Tools for distribution
The objective of the European Parliament LUX (light) Cinema Prize is to illuminate the public debate on European integration and to facilitate the diffusion of European films in the European Union. The LUX Prize will finance the subtitling and the kinescope recording of the winning film in the 23 official EU languages. The original language recording will be adapted for sub-titling for hard of hearing and deaf people.

EURIMAGESEurimages is the Council of Europe fund for the co-production, distribution and exhibition of European cinematographic works. Set up in 1988 as a Partial Agreement it currently has 34 Member States.
Eurimages aims to promote the European film industry by encouraging the production and distribution of films and fostering co-operation between professionals.

GOETHE-INSTITUTThe Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany. Together with the European Parliament, the Goethe Institute co-edited the first time ever DVD edition in 30 languages of a European film, auf der anderen Seite (LUX Prize 2007). Through the LUX Prize, the European Parliament provided the subtitles for the 23 official EU languages, plus the seven provided by the Goethe Institute (Arabic, Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese and Turkish).

As part of the LUX Caffé debates at the European Parliament on November 10, FRANCE 24 broadcasted a 'LUX on Air' TV Debate on the 2009 competition and on the World Premiere DVD release in 30 languages of the 2007 LUX Prize winner Auf der anderen Seiten.
